Inside the spa complex, the air is cooler, quiet. You step through glass doors into a space where water and architecture are perfectly balanced.
It began as a completed drawing; the architecture was already signed off. However, on the construction table, several critical details required deeper engineering precision. Morana Water Design was called in — not to redesign, but to refine. Our mission was to ensure that every hydrotherapy jet, every overflow edge, and every hidden hydraulic pipe delivered the flawless five-star experience expected by the resort’s international clientele.
The Engineering Behind the Calm: Zero-Edge Precision
The spa’s hydrotherapy pool is the centerpiece of a vast 1,200 m² wellness and fitness complex. The technical brief was uncompromising: a continuous, mirror-like overflow perfectly level across the entire perimeter — a flawless zero-edge pool — combined with heavy therapeutic features that had to operate in harmony without disrupting the water’s visual stillness.
While the main $12 \times 6$ metre basin may look simple at first glance, beneath the surface lies a highly complex, custom-engineered network. In a desert environment like Jordan, water is a precious resource. The hydraulics had to be meticulously tuned to achieve maximum therapeutic effect while optimizing water retention and filtration efficiency.
An Advanced Hydrotherapy Circuit Below the Surface
Once inside, guests discover an immersive aquatic journey where every element serves a specific wellness purpose:
- Stainless Steel Water Cannons: Four custom-engineered neck and shoulder massage cannons arc elegantly into the pool, calibrated for optimal muscular tension relief without causing excessive surface splashing.
- Submerged Geyser Systems: High-output geyser plates pulse from the floor, stimulating the feet while continuously oxygenating the water column.
- Discreet Air Curtains: Along the access steps, hidden micro-perforated plates release a gentle, continuous curtain of bubbles.
- Ergonomic Massage Loungers: Sculpted concrete loungers embedded with integrated air systems create targeted anatomical relaxation zones.
Our team precisely positioned, tested, and balanced every single feature. This rigorous calibration ensures that no single system overpowers another, allowing the soft, rhythmic murmur of the perimeter overflow to remain uninterrupted.
Material Harmony & Invisible Technical Execution
The interior finish is lined with custom glass mosaics in deep, warm tones — echoing the rich Jordanian earth outside while creating an inviting turquoise depth. Light filters from the massive glass roof above, shifting with the desert sun, while recessed architectural wall lighting gives the space a warm, golden glow after dusk.
Following Morana Water Design’s strict standards, the technical equipment room — entirely invisible to guests — was treated with the same architectural respect. Heat pumps, multi-stage filtration units, and water chemistry automation systems were engineered to be completely silent and easily accessible for the hotel’s maintenance team.
From Plan to Performance: Bridging Design and Reality
Our consulting role went far beyond correcting blueprints. We coordinated local trades, adjusted specialized concrete execution methods, and oversaw the entire commissioning phase. In a high-end luxury project with tight deadlines, the smallest structural tolerance could compromise the perfect mirror effect of the perimeter overflow.
By working closely with the hotel’s spa team, we translated their aesthetic vision into exact technical parameters: precise thermal control, balanced hydraulic pressure across all zones, and synchronous flows.
