A well-located plant room can save significant costs in terms of reduced pipe lengths and minimized pressure losses. It’s best to place it next to the pool, but there are other options.

We recommend against storing chemicals in pump rooms, even if they’re well ventilated, since they can damage the equipment.

Where is the swimming pool pump room to be installed?

We advise placing it near the pool and never more than 10 meters from the pool to avoid pressure losses.

  • The underground or semi-underground swimming pool pump room can be made of masonry or concrete, but there are also prefabricated polyester pump rooms. It is better to locate it, or at least the pump, below the water level and the valves must be easy to handle.
  • The above-ground plant room can be a dedicated construction or an existing room close to the pool.
  • The integrated pump room   is often located in a ladder, for example for the Desjoyaux swimming pool brand. Usually, no additional equipment can be added to it and no pool pump room diagram is made.

How big should be the pool plant room

Before drawing the swimming pool pump room diagram, it is important to confirm the dimensions of the room itself.
It should be remembered that below 2 m², no authorization is required in France. From 2 to 20 m² a “Déclaration préalable” for minor works, possibly the same as for the swimming pool, must be filed.
