Nestled within the private courtyard of the historic Strand Hotel in Yangon, this elegant 18-metre by 8-metre mirror pool offers guests a secluded oasis of calm, discreetly sheltered by the hotel’s iconic colonial buildings and a surrounding garden wall.

Commissioned alongside a distinguished Thai architectural practice, Morana Water Design was entrusted with the full hydraulic design and site supervision of the pool systems, ensuring perfect water management and flawless mirror effect performance.

While the architectural design of the pool itself was carried out by the appointed architects, our mission was to develop and implement an advanced hydraulic solution capable of delivering the serene, level water surface essential to the aesthetic vision.

The project demanded exceptional precision and responsiveness, as construction had to be completed ahead of the hotel’s reopening, during the region’s challenging rainy season. Despite these constraints, rigorous site supervision, seamless integration of technical systems, and meticulous levelling ensured the success of the installation.

The outcome is a sophisticated mirror effect pool that reflects the soft tropical light and harmoniously complements the timeless spirit of the Strand Hotel — an understated yet powerful enhancement of the guests’ experience of luxury, tranquillity, and privacy.

This project reflects our commitment to excellence: providing bespoke hydraulic engineering solutions that elevate architectural creations to their highest potential.
